Atanas Marinov
Atanas Marinov is a Bulgarian clarinetist born in Sofia into a family of musicians. He began his musical education at the age of 13 under the guidance of Professor Sava Dimitrov. He graduated from the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia and, in 2011, completed his studies at the National Academy of Music "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in the class of Professor Dimitar Dimitrov. He continued his education at the Lausanne Conservatory of Music in Switzerland under Frédéric Rapin and, in 2017, completed a soloist specialization in Zurich under Fabio di Casola.
During his studies, he participated in masterclasses with renowned clarinetists such as Michael Collins, Romain Guyot, Karl Leister, and others. In 2014, he was selected as a soloist of the Lausanne Conservatory Orchestra and took part in the "Forum Wallis" festival, where he premiered the piece Stimmenauszug by Swiss composer Xavier Hagen.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Marinov has performed at numerous prestigious European festivals, including Zermatt Music Festival, Cully Classique, Verbier Festival, and others. He is a laureate of several international competitions, including "Young Virtuosos," the International Competition for German and Austrian Music in Burgas, and the Grand Prize Virtuosos in London where he played his debut in Royal Albert Hall. He was also nominated for the prestigious "Crystal Lyre" award in Bulgaria in the "Soloist" category for the past year.
In 2017, he became a member of the Swiss Young Talent music agency and foundation in Basel. He has held the position of principal clarinetist in youth orchestras in Zurich and Thurgau, as well as in the Festival Orchestra in Biel/Bienne and the GENESIS ORCHESTRA. From 2019, he was the principal clarinetist of the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra in South Korea. After returning to Switzerland, he signed a contract with the music agency Acasa Live and has since performed concerts across Europe.
In 2024, he participated in the "Musical Magic" tour with the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Yordan Kamdzhalov, performing works such as Prturi se planinata in an arrangement for clarinet and orchestra.
Atanas Marinov Projects;
The Eastern Quartet: Atanas Marinov is the leader of the ensemble, with whom he completed a successful tour in Bulgaria alongside Maestro Yordan Kamdzhalov and Sofi Marinova. The Eastern Quartet performs classical music blended with Balkan, jazz, and ethno elements.
Marc Crofts Ensemble: As a member of the ensemble, he recorded their album released last year, followed by a European tour to present the CD.
Stubete Gäng: Since December 2024, he has been a member of the famous Swiss group Stubete Gäng, playing modern Swiss music and touring extensively across-the-board Switzerland, Germany,
and Austria. Together with Stubete Gäng, he is a winner of the Swiss Music Awards.
